Jared Peters
Director/Principal of The New Brunswick
college of Craft and Design (NBCCD)
As Director of NBCCD, Jared is dedicated to fostering an inclusive College community and an innovative, transformational educational experience for learners. He is committed to art, craft, and design education, and understands the vital importance of visual culture and creativity in shaping a more hopeful future.
Jared first joined the NBCCD team in 2018 as an Instructor. He has since taken on the roles of Associate Dean and then Dean before becoming the Director. He previously worked as the Director of Art City in St. James Town, an arts-based learning centre in an inner-city Toronto neighbourhood, and as the Executive Director of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre here in Fredericton. Jared has also taught visual art, art history, and design at the University of Western Ontario, Museum London, and the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
Jared maintains an active art practice, with an extensive roster of exhibitions in New Brunswick and across the country. The recipient of numerous grants and awards, he was a semi-finalist in the prestigious RBC Canadian Painting Competition in 2011. His work can be found in collections across the country and around the world.
A fun fact about Jared: He once participated in a kickboxing tournament in South Korea. He lost.
