Help Shape Student Success Across New Brunswick
The NBCC Foundation is looking for community-minded leaders who want to make a meaningful difference in education.
Our volunteer Board of Directors provides governance and strategic oversight to an organization that helps students access post-secondary education through scholarships, bursaries, grants and student support initiatives.
If you are passionate about education, community impact, good governance, and helping future generations succeed, we would love to hear from you.
About the NBCC Foundation
The NBCC Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to improving access to technical and vocational education throughout New Brunswick.
Working in partnership with New Brunswick’s public colleges; Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB), New Brunswick community college (NBCC), The New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD) and generous donors, we help remove financial barriers for students while supporting educational initiatives that strengthen our province’s future workforce.
Our work is guided by four key priorities:
- Stewardship of donor generosity
- Scholarships, bursaries and grants
- Strong partnerships
- Advocacy for accessible, high-quality education

What Does the Board Do?
The Board of Directors focuses on governance—not day-to-day operations.
Board members:
- Help set the Foundation’s strategic direction
- Ensure strong financial stewardship
- Oversee organizational performance and risk
- Support sound governance and accountability
- Help ensure the Foundation remains focused on its mission
The Executive Director and staff are responsible for the Foundation’s daily operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous Board experience?
Previous Board or governance experience is an asset for Director appointments. We also recruit volunteers to serve on Standing Committees, where specialized professional knowledge and community experience are equally valuable. If you're interested in contributing, we'd be pleased to discuss the opportunity that's the best fit for your experience.
Can I volunteer on a Committee without serving on the Board?
Yes. Depending on the Foundation's needs, community members with relevant professional expertise may be appointed to serve on Standing or Ad Hoc Committees without serving on the Board of Directors. Committee appointments are based on the Foundation's needs and the experience and expertise required.
Is fundraising required?
No. The Foundation has a governance Board, and Directors are not expected to solicit donations. Our partner colleges lead fundraising activities, while the Foundation focuses on governance, stewardship, and the responsible management of donated funds.
Will I serve on a committee?
Most Board members also participate on one Standing Committee based on their interests and expertise.
Can college employees apply?
Current employees of CCNB, NBCC and NBCCD are appointed through their respective colleges rather than through the public recruitment process.
How are Board and Committee members selected?
Vacancies are filled based on the Foundation's governance needs, desired skills and experience, and the overall composition of the Board and its committees. Expressing interest does not guarantee appointment, but we welcome conversations with individuals interested in contributing.
How long is a Board term?
Board Directors are generally appointed for a three-year term and may be reappointed for a second consecutive term. Community members serving on Standing Committees are generally appointed for a one-year term and may be reappointed. Ad Hoc Committee appointments last for the duration of the project.
