Applying to the New Brunswick Youth in Care
Scholarship Program (F-0320)
What happens after you have applied?
1- The Foundation verifies your eligibility with your designated care organization and confirms your enrollment with the post-secondary institution indicated on your application.
-There is nothing left to do, except wait for our email.
2- You, the student, will be notified using the email on the application form, whether your application is rejected or conditionally approved whitin 2 to 3 weeks, on average.
-The Condition being, attending your classes once your program starts.
3- Your post-secondary institution will be notified that your tuition and mandatory fees will be covered by The NBCC Foundation on behalf of the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
*Please note that in case you do not complete your study program, and where a reimbursement of tuition would be done, the money will be returned to The NBCC Foundation.
-Again, there is nothing left to do, except attend class. The money will be sent directly to the institution.
4-PETL will be notified your application's approval and funding amount. If you are also receiving funding from student financial assistance, your file may be reassessed which may result in a change to eligible SFA funding or the creation of overawards that may impact the funding available to you in the future.
5- For the majority, you will receive your T4A from the post-secondary institution during the year, per their policy.
For the others, you will receive it in the mail, from the NBCC Foundation, at the address you wrote on your application form.
6- Remember to reapply next year to continue your studies.

Deadline
Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
As funding is limited, we encourage you to apply as early as possible.
Submit your application before September 1, 2025.
*Please note that applications are only accepted for the 2025-2026 school year at the moment.
**If you are also applying for NB student aid, the NB Youth in Care Scholarship, like all scholarships, must be included in your student aid assessment. Student aid will be notified of the Youth in Care scholarship amount you will be receiving.
Depending on the timing of your scholarship approval and the assessment of your student aid application, your student aid funding may be reassessed resulting in changes to the amount of student aid you will receive or the creation of overawards

To fill the application you will need:
- Social insurance number (SIN)
- Post secondary institution student number
- First day of class for your 2025-2026 school year
- Last day of class for your 2025-2026 school year
- Total tuition plus mandatory cost for your next term
