Guy Laviolette

A prominent businessman for over 30 years in Charlo, New Brunswick, Mr. Laviolette, the owner of La Source restaurant and catering service has been elected Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Laviolette is one of the longest-serving members of the Board, and has always been a strong supporter of the community colleges and their students.  “As a major economic engine for New Brunswick the community colleges and the College of Craft and Design provide the training services required by our economy and enable students to acquire the skills and certifications they need to create good, long-lasting careers for themselves and their families.  At the Foundation, we are pleased to support those in financial need in achieving these goals.”

Mr. Laviolette has also distinguished himself through his volunteerism at the local, provincial, national, and even international level. In 1977, he founded the Charlo cross-country ski club, and soon after became the president of the cross-country skiing association of New Brunswick, as well as the president of the national association. He has been an official at five Canada Winter Games, a member of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame's board of governors, and has been involved in numerous cultural and sporting activities and organizations throughout the years.
